No Light Stops Play

Reluctantly our coaches have decided that for safety reasons we are going to cancel this weeks session. It's just getting too dark to run the session effectively.

We are visiting a potential winter venue that is floodlit and also have an idea to run family rides over winter weekends.

New time for club sessions

Because of the fading light we will now start at 6.00pm and finish at 7.00pm.

Our Sessions

We are now at Holmebrook Valley Park every Thursday until 22nd October as long as the light holds out!
Our coaches want to continue over the winter but are considering various alternatives.
We have funding to train more coaches - if anyone is interested please get in contact and we can explain what the procedure is.

Autumn Sessions

We will start again on Thursday 10th September 2015 at Holmebrook Valley Park just off the entrance road before the cafe. 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
British Cycling will be there to support the first session!

At the moment there will not be a session on 17th September but then sessions will run from 24th September to 22nd October inclusive.

Summer Break

With the completion of our session last week we have now finished the initial run of 6 weeks. We had an average of just over 22 children taking part per week.

We are planning to start again in September with another run of 6 sessions until dark evenings prevent us from being at Holmebrook Valley Park.

Sessions

With our 5th session completed yesterday next week is the last session of our initial run of 6. We expect to start again in September, probably on the 10th. Confirmation will be emailed to parents and also appear on our social media.

3rd Session

Despite the weather 17 came along to our 3rd session. Luckily the rain held off until the end!

2nd July

Looking forward to tonight's session but the weather has turned against us! Coaches will be there but may well have to cancel.

Our 2nd Session

Great to see 23 riders tonight. We had to use the grass because the council didn't cone off the car park! Decided to have two groups again with younger and older.

First session!

Thanks to the 27 riders who came to our first session on June 18th. Now that we know the response to starting our new club the coaches will devise a session plan for our remaining 5 sessions in this first block.

Here We Go

Our first club session is tomorrow, Thursday 18th June at 6.30pm in Holmebrook Valley Park (near the cafe).
We have had over 30 registrations so far but do come along, you don't have to pre register. Riders first session is free then £2 per week.

Planning our First Sessions

A lot of enquiries since the article in S40 Local appeared! Our publicity postcard going out to schools as well. If you can let us know if your children are planning to come along, especially to the first session do let us know.

Coming Soon

Our launch date of June 18th is coming up fast. The coaches will be meeting shortly to finalise the first six weeks session plans. We are pleased to say that the first of our coaches has just been accredited as a British Cycling Level 2 coach, 3 more involved in the club to go!

About the club

We are forming a new cycling club in Chesterfield. Starting in June 2015 we will provide fun sessions with coaching delivered by British Cycling coaches. There will be some competitive element.

Chesterfield Borough Council have agreed that we can use Holmebrook Valley Park as a venue. We will be using the car park on the left just before the cafe building. Postcode is S41 8XP.

For the future we hope to introduce a social element and include disability sport together with visits to other cycling venues.
